アーティスト解説
フロリダ州のビーチリゾート・ボカラトン出身。マイアミ大学で学士号を取得後、パリ大学やニューヨークのスクール・オブ・ビジュアル・アーツで学ぶ。
風、水、熱、重力といった自然からインスピレーションを得て制作されるReneeの抽象画は、様々な色を塗り重ねては、乾かし、乾いてから更に上書きして・・・といった複雑なプロセスを経て制作されている。
鑑賞する角度や距離によって、見え方が様々に変わるのが、彼女の作品の大きな魅力である。
離れて見ると、島やビーチなど上空から見た地球上の様々な地形を連想させる色合いやパターンが見えてくる。あるいは近づいてよく見てみると、キャンバス上に置かれた波紋や亀裂などの様々な表情から、作品があたかも彫刻のような立体性を帯びて見えてくるのも面白い。
